Traffic congestion is expected in parts of Seoul on Saturday due to a number of planned rallies in support of and opposition to President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, an alliance of civic groups plan to stage a rally and a march near Gwanghwamun and Sungnyemun Saturday afternoon to call for the ouster of the president.

The far-right Liberty Unification Party plans to hold a rally near Gwanghwamun to protest Yoon's impeachment.

The police intend to establish variable lanes where the rally and march are expected to take place.

Some 170 traffic officers are also expected to be deployed for enhanced traffic control.

An official from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, meanwhile, urged the public to use the subway or other means of public transportation.
