Prosecutors have apprehended a shaman who had been an adviser to President Yoon Suk Yeol's camp during the 2022 presidential race on charges of accepting illegal political funds.

The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office on Tuesday arrested the shaman known as "Geonjinbeopsa," identified by his real name Jeon Seong-bae.

Jeon is accused of taking the illegal political money from politicians in 2018.

The prosecution raided Jeon's residence Tuesday morning before his arrest.

Jeon is also known to have close relations with first lady Kim Keon-hee.
