Former head of the minor Rebuilding Korea Party, Cho Kuk, called for full efforts for a change of administration as he began serving a two-year prison sentence on conviction of academic fraud and unlawful interference in a government inspection.

Speaking in front of the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province on Monday, Cho urged his party to prevent the ruling People Power Party(PPP) from staying in power, calling it an accomplice to the December 3 insurrection.

Cho also urged the minor party to push for the dissolution of the prosecution by handling a package of reform bills, which the party had promised during April's general elections.

The former justice minister from the previous Moon Jae-in administration said although he does not agree with the Supreme Court's upholding of his conviction and application of legal principles, he humbly accepts it and will fulfill his duty as a law-abiding citizen.

Cho said he intends to reflect on his flaw and limits, and become stronger through reading, exercise and self-examination.
