The joint investigative team probing President Yoon Suk Yeol’s botched martial law declaration says both the presidential office and the presidential residence refused to receive its written request for Yoon to appear for questioning.
The joint team, comprising the police, the defense ministry's investigation unit, and the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials(CIO), said the rejections both came on Monday.
The team added that it forwarded the summons to the office of the Secretary to the President for Administrative Affairs via express delivery, saying ultimately there will be no problems in delivering the summons to the president.
In the summons, the team asked the president to appear at the CIO head office in Gwacheon at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, citing that Yoon has been accused of being the leader of an insurrection.
According to the joint team, both the top office and the presidential residence had cited Yoon's suspension of duties when refusing to receive the summons.
