The prosecution’s special investigation team probing President Yoon Suk Yeol’s short-lived martial law declaration has notified Yoon for a second time to appear for questioning.

According to the prosecution, the special team sent a summons again on Monday.

However, the date on which Yoon was asked to appear for questioning was not confirmed.

The move comes a day after the special team said Yoon did not comply with a summons last Wednesday to appear at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office for questioning at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Yoon’s side reportedly told prosecutors that Yoon could not appear for questioning because he had not yet hired legal representatives.

If Yoon complies this time, he will become the first incumbent president to appear before prosecutors for questioning as a suspect in the nation’s constitutional history.
