Kia Tigers’ Kim Do-yeong Wins First Golden Glove Award

Kim Do-yeong, star player of the Korea Baseball Organization’s(KBO) Kia Tigers, won his first Golden Glove prize at the annual awards ceremony held Friday night.

The 21-year-old won a sweeping victory in the third baseman category, after earning 280 out of 288 votes cast by members of the media.

Kim, who had 38 homers, 40 steals, and a league record with 143 runs scored this year, also helped the Tigers win their 12th Korean Series title.

Last month, the Tigers star was named the regular-season MVP at the annual KBO awards event, followed by multiple prizes awarded by KBO’s players’ association and its retired players’ association, among others.

In the shortstop category at Friday’s awards, the Tigers’ Park Chan-ho won 53-point-five percent of votes to win his first Golden Glove prize.

The Samsung Lions’ veteran catcher Kang Min-ho earned 66-point-three percent of votes to win his seventh Golden Glove.
