Progressive groups led by one of the nation’s major umbrella unions, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions(KCTU), plan to stage a march in front of the parliament starting at 3 p.m. involving an expected 200-thousand people.
The Cargo Truckers Solidarity and the Jinbo College Student Network are expected to hold similar events in Seoul’s Yeouido area before marching toward the Assembly.
An alliance of conservative groups opposing Yoon’s impeachment is planning a rally starting around 3 p.m. in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun area, with about 30-thousand people expected to take part.
As major traffic congestion is expected, police have urged the public to use public transportation if possible and advised drivers to check traffic information ahead of time.
