The police have sought to secure additional materials from the presidential compound as part of their probe into last week’s martial law incident.
The Korean National Police Agency’s special investigation team said its investigators arrived at the presidential compound around 2 p.m. to acquire materials submitted voluntarily by the Joint Chiefs of Staff(JCS), whose building is located within the precincts of the top office.
Under the search warrant issued by the court, the police can secure materials submitted voluntarily by the JCS instead of entering offices and seizing materials.
Authorization is needed to enter classified military facilities.
Earlier on Wednesday, the police probe team sought to raid four locations within the presidential compound, including the Cabinet meeting room and the National Security Office, but failed to enter the venues after the Presidential Security Service cited official and military secrets.
