A fishing boat carrying eight crew members capsized off the coast of the southeastern city of Gyeongju early Monday, with seven people found without vital signs and one still missing.

According to the Pohang branch of the Korea Coast Guard, the 29-ton fishing boat collided with a 456-ton sand carrier in waters six kilometers southeast of Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, at 5:43 a.m. Monday.

When the Coast Guard arrived at the site of the collision, the boat had been completely turned over.

The seven crew members found inside the vessel without vital signs are three South Koreans and four Indonesians.

The Coast Guard's search for the eighth member, involving four helicopters and a naval vessel, has expanded to waters surrounding the boat after the initial round of search operation.

Coast Guard officials said none of the ten people aboard the sand carrier were injured.
