Progressive groups led by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions(KCTU) will hold a candlelight vigil in front of the National Assembly on Monday to urge President Yoon Suk Yeol to step down after his surprise martial law declaration last week.

The rally will start at 6 p.m. near exit No. 5 of National Assembly Station on Seoul’s Subway Line No. 9.

The KCTU plans to hold a rally at the site every day.

A separate progressive civic group is planning a candlelight vigil of its own at the same location at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Meanwhile, conservative groups, including the Liberty Unification Party, are set to stage demonstrations opposing Yoon’s impeachment in front of the Dongwha Duty Free Shop in Gwanghwamun at 2 p.m.

More counterprotests will take place every day through Saturday.
