A fishing boat capsized after colliding with a sand carrier off the coast of the southeastern city of Gyeongju on Monday, with six people aboard the boat later found without vital signs.

According to the Pohang branch of the Korea Coast Guard, a 29-ton fishing boat collided with a 456-ton sand carrier in waters six kilometers southeast of Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, at 5:43 a.m. Monday.

The fishing boat capsized immediately after the collision. 

The Coast Guard said it found six of the eight crew members inside the boat with no vital signs. 

A search is underway for the remaining two.

Coast Guard officials said ten people were aboard the sand carrier, but none were harmed.
