Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok has vowed to do his utmost to resolve the uncertainty facing the nation’s economy.

After an emergency meeting of economic affairs ministers on Wednesday morning at the Seoul Government Complex, Choi said the government will do its best to resolve economic issues so they do not affect the economy, business activities or people’s daily lives.

Choi said to alleviate concerns about the current economic situation, the government will communicate closely and share information with international credit rating agencies, domestic economic organizations and key economic allies such as the United States.

He added that the government will operate a 24-hour task force to monitor the economic and financial situation and prevent shocks to the real economy.

When asked by reporters whether the Cabinet will resign after the short-lived state of emergency, Choi did not respond.
