After a surprise declaration of martial law by President Yoon Suk Yeol and its repeal a few hours later, ruling People Power Party(PPP) leader Han Dong-hoon has urged Yoon to personally explain the situation and immediately dismiss the defense minister, who suggested imposing martial law.

The PPP chair made the remarks in a meeting with reporters on Wednesday at the National Assembly, saying that as the chair of the ruling party he apologizes to the people for the situation. 

Han said the PPP will do what it can as the ruling party to minimize economic and diplomatic damage from Yoon’s move.

He added that the party will thoroughly investigate the circumstances leading up to the declaration of martial law and take the necessary steps.
