Seoul City Mayor Oh Se-hoon is set to file complaints with the prosecution against self-proclaimed power broker Myung Tae-kyun and others for alleging that he had been politically assisted by them through opinion polling during the 2021 mayoral by-election.
At a press briefing on Tuesday, Oh declared to launch the legal procedure against a fraudulent group that undermines election fairness and threatens democracy, as well as forces that distort the truth through spreading false information.
Oh intends to file complaints against Myung, former ruling People Power Party(PPP) Rep. Kim Young-sun, her former accounting manager Kang Hye-kyung, main opposition Democratic Party(DP) Rep. Yeom Tae-young and media outlets Newstapa and News Tomato.
The Seoul mayor plans to accuse Myung, Kang and Kim of fraud and obstruction of official duty, and Yeom and the outlets of defamation.
The mayor called on the prosecution to thoroughly investigate all the allegations and to swiftly put forth a clear conclusion.
Oh also pledged to reveal the truth and stand with the people to fight against lies and injustice.
