The Presidential Committee on Artificial Intelligence is set to begin the process of establishing the national strategy on AI by the first quarter of 2025.

The committee convened an inaugural workshop on Monday with members of all the subcommittees composed of industrial and academic experts.

The participants discussed the committee's role and vision in meeting the goal of becoming one of the world's top three AI powerhouses, as well as each subcommittee's planned activity and key tasks.

A special committee will be separately formed to swiftly handle AI-related issues, while a support group for the strategy preparation is expected to launch this month.

The presidential committee, chaired by President Yoon Suk Yeol, was launched in late September to serve as the highest governing body in AI policy.
