Suwon City police have apprehended 39 people after raiding a club in the city’s Paldal District on a tip about drug use and immigration violations.

According to the Suwon West Police Station in Gyeonggi Province on Monday, the 39 were booked on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act or the Immigration Act.

Of the group, 12 are suspected of using illegal drugs, 22 of being in the country without authorization and five of working here illegally.

The police said it conducted the joint raid with the Suwon Immigration Office on Sunday at the appointment-only club owned by a Vietnamese national.

The raid came on a tip dating back to September that drugs were being distributed in the club, which only accepts Vietnamese customers, and that undocumented immigrants were working there.

Police say they found traces of meth and ecstasy on many of the people they apprehended.
