A large rally is set to take place in central Seoul on Saturday, which will likely cause severe traffic congestion.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on Friday, liberal civic groups are planning anti-government rallies and a march near Sejongdae-ro, Sajik-ro and Namdaemun-ro in the city’s Jung and Jongno districts.

The police intend to establish variable lanes on the opposite sides of the roads where the rally and march are expected to take place.

Some 140 traffic officers will be deployed and traffic control measures will be put in place so that intercity buses can continue running.

An official from the Seoul police agency, meanwhile, urged the public to use the subway or other means of public transportation.
