While the heavy snow advisory for Seoul was lifted at 10 a.m. Thursday, some parts of the Greater Seoul area saw more than 40 centimeters of snow throughout the day.

The Korea Meteorological Administration also lifted heavy snow advisories for 13 cities and counties in central and southern Gyeonggi Province, including Seongnam and Anyang.

However, a heavy snow advisory is still in effect for the mountainous areas of Jeju Island.

Meanwhile, according to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, as of 11 a.m., 71 people in 43 households in Gyeonggi Province had to temporarily evacuate due to the heavy snow.

The heavy snow has also caused 131 power outages nationwide, and 156 flights and 104 passenger ferry voyages were canceled.
