Rival camps have agreed to vote on December 10 on a special counsel bill mandating an investigation into allegations involving first lady Kim Keon-hee which President Yoon Suk Yeol vetoed on Tuesday.
The floor leaders and the senior deputy floor leaders of the ruling People Power Party(PPP) and main opposition Democratic Party(DP) reached the agreement during a meeting on Tuesday.
Citing that the National Assembly’s ordinary session will end on December 10, DP floor leader Park Chan-dae said the rival camps agreed to convene plenary sessions on Monday and Wednesday of next week and December 10.
During Wednesday’s plenary, the parties are set to vote on motions seeking the impeachment of three senior prosecutors who led an investigation into stock manipulation allegations concerning the first lady but decided not to indict her.
PPP floor leader Choo Kyung-ho said that during Tuesday’s meeting, the DP expressed intent to pursue a parliamentary inspection into the death of Marine Corporal Chae Su-geun but the PPP issued a negative view on the matter.
