The main opposition Democratic Party(DP) will stage a rally in Seoul on Saturday, to denounce alleged influence-peddling by President Yoon Suk Yeol and first lady Kim Keon-hee, and call for a special counsel probe on the first lady.

The rally, set to begin in the Gwanghwamun area at around 5:30 p.m., is the main opposition's fourth outdoor rally to ramp up pressure on the ruling camp to accept the special probe bill.

DP leader Lee Jae-myung, who is expected to attend the rally, is unlikely to address the crowd.

The opposition's leadership plan to join a march organized by a liberal civic group later in the evening.

In a statement, ruling People Power Party(PPP) floor spokesperson Cho Ji-yeon accused the DP of attempting to intimidate the judiciary ahead of a court ruling on the DP chief's subordination of perjury trial next Monday.
