A senior North Korean general was reportedly wounded in a recent Ukrainian strike in Russia’s Kursk region.

The Wall Street Journal issued the report Thursday, quoting Western officials.

According to the report, this is the first time Western officials have said that a high-ranking North Korean military officer has become a casualty in the escalating Russia-Ukraine conflict since the North deployed about ten-thousand troops to Russia last month.

The Western officials did not disclose the identity of the North Korean officer or the severity of the wound.

On November 7, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a press conference after the European Political Community Summit in Hungary that “losses” had already been recorded among North Korean troops in Russia’s Kursk region in combat against Ukrainian forces.
