Amid ongoing student protests at Dongduk Women’s University over talk of the university becoming coeducational, students decided to formally deliver their opposition to the school.

One-thousand-941 students, or around 30 percent of the entire student body, attended a general student assembly on Wednesday, where they put the issue of a coed system to a vote.

Out of one-thousand-973 votes cast, none supported the change to a coed system, while one-thousand-971 opposed it.

Two others abstained.

Student Council President Choi Hyun-ah, who planned to convey the students’ demands to the school on Thursday, said the students want the university to clearly state that it will no longer consider switching to a coed system.

A representative of the school reportedly said the university plans to thoroughly review the outcome of Wednesday’s vote, and that it will collect diverse opinions from the students.
