The Greek government has confirmed it will upgrade the 'anti-terror' level to the highest level for South Korean athletes during the Olympic games and provide increased security measures. South Korea's 376-member Olympic squad now finds itself categorized in the same terror threat level as U.S. and British delegations to the Games. A Greek foreign ministry official delivered the Athens government's confirmation of the upgrade Thursday, explaining the five-tiered security ranking system in place for the Games' international athletes. The official also said a pan-governmental security squad will be launched to share information with other nations on possible terrorist threats, adding that one such group of security officials has already arrived in Greece. Seoul had earlier called on Athens to strengthen security measures for South Korean athletes during the Olympic games, which start August 13th. The move followed growing fears of terror attacks in Greece against South Koreans, following Seoul's decision to dispatch additional troops for rehabilitation missions in Iraq.
