South Korea defeated Kuwait 3-1 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, maintaining its solid lead in Group B.

Team Korea, led by head coach Hong Myung-bo, beat Kuwait at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium during their Group B match in the third round of the Asian qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Forward Oh Se-hun scored an opener with a header in the tenth minute, and captain Son Heung-min added another in the second half.

Kuwait scored its first and only goal in the second half, but Bae Jun-ho cemented South Korea’s victory with a goal in the 74th minute.

Son’s goal was his 50th international goal, which put him in a tie with former striker Hwang Sun-hong for second place on the list of South Korea’s all-time record goal scorers in international games.

Son is now eight behind Cha Bum-kun.
