Hefty prize money is reserved for athletes who will bring home medals in the upcoming Summer Olympics.

The Seoul Olympics Sports Promotion Foundation says it has alloted two point five billion won in funds as prize money for medalists from the Athens Olympics.

Fifteen million won will be given to gold medalists, eight million won to silver medalists and five million won to bronze medalists in individual events.

In addition to the prize money, the medalists will receive as much as one million won in lifelong monthly stipends as well as other bonuses from their respective teams and affiliated organizations.
