South Korea's national soccer team defeated visiting Vietnam 2-0 in a qualifier for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

At the game held in central Daejeon on Wednesday, South Korean striker Ahn Jeong-hwan fired a shot from the top of the penalty box off a pass from teammate Lee Eul-yong in the 29th minute, bringing his team the first goal of the match.

Sixteen minutes into the second half, Kim Doo-hyun dribbled past a Vietnamese defender to fire a low ball into the net for a second and decisive goal.

South Korea's victory effectively made up for an embarrassing 1-0 loss in its first World Cup qualifier with the Southeast Asian country last October.
