With two months left before the Athens Summer Olympics, Seoul is aiming to garner 36 medals at the international competition.

If realized, it would be its highest medal tally to date.

Korean Olympic Committee chief Lee Yeon-taek and Shin Bak-je, head of the Korean Olympian squad, outlined the plan at a news conference on Tuesday.

Korea expects 13 gold medals in the fields of archery, taekwondo, judo, wrestling and badminton along with 10 silvers and 13 bronze medals.

At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, South Korea won 33 medals, including 12 gold, 10 silver, and 11 bronze, the best performance in Korea's history of participation in the world's biggest sports event.
