COVID-19 Cases Slightly Decrease Last Week

The nation witnessed a decline in daily new COVID-19 cases, as well as critically ill patients and deaths last week, following the downgrade of the national crisis level for the virus on June 1.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said on Monday that the number of daily new infections for the past week came to 16-thousand-441 on average, down seven-point-two percent from the previous week.

The total caseload came to over 31 million-904-thousand.

The daily average of hospitalized patients in intensive care for last week marked 122, down 31 or 20-point-three percent from a week earlier. 

The country reported 62 deaths last week, also down seven-point-five percent from the previous week, raising the death toll to 34-thousand-893.
