New COVID-19 cases registered in the 12-thousands amid a slowdown in the latest wave of infections.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said Sunday that 12-thousand-51 infections were reported throughout Saturday including 29 from overseas, bringing the country's cumulative caseload to around 30-million-350-thousand.

The tally is down by 700 from the previous day and about two-thousand from a week ago.

For a Sunday tally, it marks the lowest in 32 weeks since July 3 of last year.

The number of critically ill hospitalized patients is down by 16 from a day earlier at 268, the lowest since October 28 of last year.

Saturday added 23 deaths raising the death toll to 33-thousand-736. The overall fatality rate stands at zero-point-11 percent.
