New COVID-19 cases registered in the 17-thousands on Wednesday amid a slowdown in the latest wave of infections.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said that 17-thousand-934 infections were reported throughout Tuesday, including 38 cases from overseas, bringing the country's cumulative caseload to some 30-million-297-thousand.
The daily figure rose by 18-hundred from the previous day, but dropped by some 25-hundred from a week ago and 15-hundred from two weeks ago.
For a Wednesday tally, it marks the lowest in 32 weeks since June 29 of last year.
The number of seriously or critically ill patients is down by ten from a day earlier at 283, staying below 300 for a third day.
Tuesday added 22 deaths, raising the death toll to 33-thousand-646. The fatality rate is unchanged at zero-point-11 percent.
