The nation reported about 65-thousand new COVID-19 cases amid the continuing winter wave of the pandemic.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said on Thursday that 65-thousand-253 new cases were compiled on Wednesday, including 48 cases from overseas, bringing the total caseload to nearly 27 million-549-thousand.
The daily tally dropped by some ten-thousand from a day ago, but rose by over eight-thousand from a week ago. Compared to two weeks ago, it rose by six-thousand.
The number of critically ill hospitalized patients is down by six from a day ago at 435, having remained above 400 since November 19.
Wednesday added 61 deaths, raising the cumulative toll to 30-thousand-908. The fatality rate stands at zero-point-11 percent.
