South Korea defeated Iraq one to zero Tuesday in a friendly soccer match between their national Olympic teams at Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Striker Kim Dong-hyun headed in the game-winning goal in the 39th minute on a free kick.

The match was organized to help create an amicable atmosphere with the Gulf nation prior to Seoul's planned dispatch of additional troops to war-torn Iraq.

Around 3,000 South Korean soldiers to be sent to Iraq and their families were in attendance, cheering for the Iraqi side throughout the match.
