S. African Runner Wins 2004 Seoul International Marathon

Gurt Thys of South Africa won the Seoul International Marathon for the second consecutive year Sunday.

Thys clocked in at two hours, seven minutes and six seconds, capturing the competition's top prize of 50,000 U.S. dollars.

South Korea's Lee Bong-ju, gold medallist of the 2002 Asian games in Busan and winter of the Boston Marathon in 2001, placed fifth with a time of two hours, eight minutes and 15 seconds.
