A cluster of COVID-19 infections has been reported at a military unit in the border area, most of the cases being fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.

According to the Defense Ministry, at least 46 soldiers at an Army unit in Yeoncheon county, Gyeonggi Province tested positive for the virus as of Saturday afternoon since the first case was confirmed the previous day.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) on Sunday, most of the infected soldiers had been administered the Pfizer vaccine.

Of the 46 infections, 41 or 89 percent were vaccine breakthrough cases, while the rest were partially vaccinated.
