South Korea recorded over 22-hundred COVID-19 cases throughout Friday, down by 238 from the previous day.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said Saturday 22-hundred-48 infections were confirmed throughout Friday, including 27 from overseas.
The accumulated caseload has topped 316-thousand.
The capital region continues to account for a majority of cases, including 785 new infections in Seoul, 757 in Gyeonggi Province and 114 in Incheon.
Seven more deaths have been reported, raising the death toll to two-thousand-504. The fatality rate stands at zero-point-79 percent and the number of critically ill patients at 336.
As of midnight on Friday, close to 39-point-six million people, or more than 77 percent of the population, have been vaccinated at least once. Well over 26 million, or 51-point-eight percent, are now fully vaccinated.
The government has extended current social distancing rules by two more weeks to October 17. The capital area is under the highest Level 4 distancing and the rest of the country Level 3. But some quarantine measures have been eased, such as for weddings, first birthday events and outdoor sports facilities, taking into account the increasing number of fully vaccinated people.
Authorities remain on alert as there are three-day-long holiday weekends for two weeks in a row in the first half of October.
