Police have issued travel bans for eight people linked to allegations surrounding a land development project in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
According to the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency on Friday, the bans were issued the previous day and include one for Kim Man-bae, the biggest shareholder of an asset management firm at the center of the scandal.
The list also reportedly includes Lee Seong-moon, the former chief of the firm Hwacheon Daeyu.
While the police declined to reveal their charges, among them are reportedly dereliction of duty and embezzlement.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Headquarters assigned an additional 24 investigators and accounting analysis experts to the team.
Earlier, they questioned civic group members who filed the complaints that alleged illegalities in the project's approval and determining dividends, as well as a five-billion-won severance paid to the son of Rep. Kwak Sang-do, formerly of the People Power Party.
