Prosecutor-General Kim Oh-soo called for an impartial investigation into allegations surrounding a land development project in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

In a statement on Thursday, Kim urged the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, which is leading the investigation, to conduct it in a swift and thorough manner with nothing off limits.

Kim also ordered the prosecution to closely cooperate with other agencies, including the police, and have the shared goal of finding the truth.

On Wednesday, the prosecution formed a team of investigators, including 16 prosecutors.

The controversial Daejang-dong development project faces allegations of favoritism, leaked classified information and power abuse. It was pursued by the Seongnam government while Gyeonggi Gov. Lee Jae-myung was mayor in 2015.
