Govt beefs up support for the Olympic team

The government is increasing its support for South Korean athletes for the 2008 Athens Olympics.

The ministers related to the Olympics had a meeting Friday and discussed various measures to motivate the South Korean Olympic squad and promote the country in the world sports event.

The participants agreed to increase financial support for the training of the athletes and to raise prize money for those who win medals in the Olympics.

They also agreed to strengthen security for the athletes due togrowing concerns over terrorism.
