The government will announce on Friday adjustments to social distancing levels which will be implemented from next week. 

Senior Health Ministry official Son Young-rae said on Monday that authorities are holding extensive discussions and gathering consensus with the aim of announcing new measures on Friday. 

Experts believe the government will extend for another two weeks the current rules in place amid the continued spike in daily COVID-19 cases. 

Currently, the highest Level Four is in place in the capital region and Level Three for other areas. These levels are set to expire on Sunday.

As of 12:00 a.m. Monday, two-thousand-383 additional people tested positive over the previous 24 hours. The daily total surpassed three-thousand for the first time last Saturday when it stood at three-thousand-273.
