Starting from Friday, people will be able to receive not only their first but also second COVID-19 vaccine shots with leftover vaccines.

The state vaccine task force said Thursday that appointments can be made via the real-time search system that helps people find and receive leftover vaccines or through wait lists at medical facilities.

Currently, appointments for leftover vaccines can only be made for first shots.

Those whose first shot is the Pfizer vaccine can make an appointment for a leftover vaccine three weeks after their first, four weeks for Moderna and four to 12 weeks for AstraZeneca.
