S. Korea Adds 1,755 COVID-19 Cases

South Korea reported one-thousand-755 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday amid the continued nationwide spread of the virus.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said that the new cases confirmed throughout Saturday raised the total caseload to 272-thousand-982.

The daily tally dropped by 110 from the previous day to fall below 18-hundred, but marks the second largest figure for Sunday since August 15, when it posted one-thousand-816.

Of the new cases, one-thousand-725 were locally transmitted infections, while 30 were foreign imports.

By region, the Seoul metropolitan area reported one-thousand-283 cases, accounting for 74-point-four percent of local cases. The tally remained above one-thousand this month, except last Monday.

Non-capital regions added 442 cases, accounting for 25-point-six percent.

One more person died of the virus, raising the death toll to two-thousand-359. The nation’s fatality rate stands at zero-point-86 percent. The number of critically ill patients dropped by one from the previous day to 351.
