Foreign investors were net sellers on the domestic stock market for the fourth straight month last month, withdrawing over five trillion won in the continuing capital outflow.

According to data from the Bank of Korea(BOK) on Friday, August's net outflow of foreign funds totaled four-point-45 billion dollars, or around five-point-two trillion won.

The net outflow is assessed to have expanded amid the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and concerns over a downturn in the semiconductor industry.

Meanwhile, a net flow of foreign investment in bonds expanded into a seven-month streak and hit one-point-56 billion dollars, although the figure drastically fell from July's five-point-57 billion dollars.

The won-dollar exchange rate, meanwhile, set a fresh high of one-thousand-179-point-six won against the greenback on August 20, trading at one-thousand-159-point-five won as of the end of the month.
