A total of one-thousand-892 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday, falling below two-thousand after two days.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said that the new cases confirmed throughout Thursday raised the total caseload to 269-thousand-362.
The daily tally dropped by 157 from the previous day to fall below two-thousand, but has been over one-thousand for the 66th consecutive day.
Of the new cases, one-thousand-857 were locally transmitted infections, while 35 were foreign imports.
By region, the Seoul metropolitan area reported one-thousand-386 cases, accounting for 74-point-six percent of local cases. Non-capital regions added 471 cases, accounting for 25-point-four percent.
Five more people died of the virus, raising the death toll to two-thousand-348. The nation’s fatality rate stands at zero-point-87 percent. The number of critically ill patients dropped by 13 from the previous day to 353.
