The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has wrapped up a five-month investigation into a bribery case involving prosecutors and journalists, recommending several people to the prosecution.
The agency announced Thursday that six, including a businessman identified only by his surname Kim and former Special Prosecutor Park Young-soo, have been turned over to the prosecution without detention over charges of violating the anti-graft law.
Among the six are a former senior prosecutor at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office identified by his family of Lee, as well as Lee Dong-hoon, a former spokesperson for presidential contender Yoon Seok-youl, and Eom Seong-seop, a news anchor at TV Chosun.
Main opposition People Power Party(PPP) member Joo Ho-young was excluded from the list, as the amount involved in his case in did not exceed the legal limit.
Kim is currently on trial for allegedly cheating seven people out of eleven-point-six billion won.
