New COVID-19 cases are expected to hit the two-thousand mark once again amid continued infections across the nation, including in the greater Seoul area.
According to health authorities and regional governments, one-thousand-859 new cases were confirmed nationwide as of 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
It is 423 more than the number compiled by 9 p.m. Monday. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) reported on Tuesday that one-thousand-597 people were diagnosed with the virus the previous day, the largest-ever figure compiled for a Monday.
Accordingly, the latest daily tally to be announced on Wednesday morning is expected to exceed two-thousand or even near 21-hundred.
This comes amid concerns over the government’s consideration of transitioning into a new management system of coexisting with the virus as vaccination rates pick up.
More than 60 percent of the population has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine as of early Tuesday since the vaccination program was launched in late February.
