Around five-point-eight million doses of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are scheduled to be delivered this week.
According to vaccine authorities, one-point-84 million doses of Moderna and three-point-95 million doses of Pfizer are set to arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Out of more than seven million doses Moderna had pledged to deliver by the first week of September, one-point-39 million will arrive Tuesday night. The U.S. company has already delivered nearly six-point-76 million doses.
Three-point-43 million doses of Pfizer will arrive Wednesday morning, followed by another 526-thousand-500 Pfizer doses and 450-thousand Moderna doses secured from Romania under a bilateral agreement.
Senior Health Ministry official Park Hyang said the cumulative 63-point-34 million vaccine doses surpass the amount required to meet its goal of inoculating 70 percent of its population with at least one vaccine shot before the upcoming Chuseok holiday.
The official added that 70 percent of the nation is expected to complete vaccination by late October.
