1,375 New COVID-19 Cases Reported on Monday

Some one-thousand-375 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Monday amid the continued nationwide spread of the virus.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said Monday that the new infections detected throughout Sunday raised the country's accumulated caseload to 261-thousand-778.

The daily figure dropped by 115 from the previous day to fall below 14-hundred. It marks the first time since August 2 that a Monday tally fell below 14-hundred. 

Of the new cases, one-thousand-351 were local transmissions, while 24 were from overseas.

By region, the capital area reported 940 cases, accounting for 69-point-six percent of all domestic cases. The tally fell below one-thousand for the first time since August 31.  

Six more deaths have been reported, raising the death toll to two-thousand-327. The fatality rate stands at zero-point-89 percent.

The number of critically ill patients dropped by five from the previous day to 358. The country will remain under the current social distancing levels for the next four weeks until October 3.
