Attendance caps will be eased for schools from Monday though the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Starting Monday, the Education Ministry will allow up to two-thirds of students to attend in-person classes, even under the highest Level Four social distancing.

Currently, Seoul, Incheon and the surrounding Gyeonggi Province, along with a few other areas, are under Level Four.

In those areas, first and second graders in elementary schools and high school seniors will be allowed to go to school Monday through Friday. Offline classes will be allowed for half of third to sixth graders in elementary schools and half of high school students and two-thirds of middle school students.

All schools including kindergartens under lower distancing rules can offer offline classes full-time.
