South Korea will remain under the current social distancing scheme for another four weeks to October 3 from Monday.
Last week, the government extended the toughest Level Four social distancing in the capital region and Level Three in other areas by four weeks.
However, some restrictions will be eased as about 70 percent of the population is expected to receive at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot before the Chuseok holiday later this month.
Under the revisions, starting Monday, restaurants and coffee shops in Level Four areas will be able to serve sit-in customers through 10 p.m., reverting back from 9 p.m.
Gatherings of up to six people will be allowed at these venues and at home even after 6 p.m. if the gatherings include four fully vaccinated people.
Gatherings of up to eight family members will be allowed only at home during and around the Chuseok holiday from September 17 to 23, if the gatherings include four fully vaccinated people.
In areas under Level Three distancing rules, up to eight people will be allowed to get together at any multi-use facility and at home as long as four or more people are fully vaccinated.
