The Korean Society of Hematology has assessed that there is no correlation between COVID-19 vaccines and leukemia.

The state vaccine task force on Thursday quoted the agency as saying that there is no basis as of yet that COVID-19 vaccines cause acute leukemia.

Based on the assessment, the task force concluded there is no need to fear developing leukemia after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine and urged the public to get vaccinated after taking into consideration their health status.

The task force’s remarks come after the government received reports from people who said they were diagnosed with leukemia after getting the vaccine and several related online petitions were posted on the presidential office’s website.
